After India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) the Israeli Diamond Industry is now heading to Hong Kong. More than 50 Israeli diamond manufacturers and exporters will be taking part in the Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair which is scheduled to be held from 17-21 September. The Israel Diamond Pavilion is organized by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI). This year the Israel Diamond Pavilion will showcase their latest products in polished diamonds as well as diamond jewellery.
The Israel Diamond Pavilion will be located in Expo Drive Hall in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
An online mini-site for the pavilion, which can be accessed through the IDI portal, enables buyers to visit the pavilion virtually before the show. The mini-site includes details of all Israeli diamond exhibitors as well as a map indicating their location at the show.
The Israeli Diamond Industry has declared Asia as a major target, with the largest potential for future growth. Hong Kong, as its gateway, is naturally the central focus for Israeli marketing efforts.
Today Hong Kong is the second largest market for Israel's polished diamond exports, representing 19% of total sales. In 2007, net exports of polished diamonds to Hong Kong stood at over $1.3bn.
"There is an increase of 35% in Israel's net polished exports to Hong Kong in the first half of 2008, and that trend is expected to continue during the year. If we continue in this way this market is going to account for more than 25% in 2008," IDI MD Eli Avidar said.
"We see Asia as the major growth market for Israeli diamond exports. In the coming years IDI will be focusing its marketing efforts on developing these markets, especially Hong Kong, China and India," said Chairman of IDI, Moti Ganz.
IDI has also added major Asian trade shows to its calendar – participating in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Macau as well as two in Hong Kong. This year for the first time IDI also introduced the Israeli Diamond Industry to India, participating in IIJS in Mumbai.
